Dragonfly Classes with Pilates
and Pilates Elements

Pilates Fusion

Our most pilates-true class, Pilates Fusion is a 30-minute mat-based workout built on classic pilates foundations — think serious attention to your core through low-impact controlled movements (we’re talking abs, obliques, back, glutes, all those spine-supporting muscles you didn’t know you had). Woven into the class are mindful movement breaks to keep things flowing and shake out the burn. If you came looking for pilates in Madison, start here!

Core Flow

Core Flow blends pilates-ish core work right into your vinyasa yoga flow, so you’re building real deep-down strength while moving through a more traditional yoga class. Strong center, powerful practice, no two classes are the same!

Flow & Lift

Yoga meets weights — and it’s as fun as it sounds! Flow & Lift weaves light-to-medium dumbbells into your vinyasa flow for a strength-building class that increases muscle endurance without going full cardio chaos. Pilates moves like roll-ups, single leg stretches, and plank work are folded in throughout, so your core is always in on the action. All levels, all bodies, totally welcome.

Circuit Up

Circuit Up is a fast-paced class that rotates through different exercise stations so every muscle group gets some love. You’ll cycle through cardio, strength, and yoga-based moves, utilizing weights or resistance bands for extra oomph. Pilates core work is woven throughout, usually with a dedicated core section because who doesn’t love extra core work! All fitness levels welcome, and you’re always in charge of your intensity.

Barre

Barre blends pilates, ballet inspired movements, a neutral spine, and small isometric movements that seriously add up. Expect barre work, mat work, muscle shakes, and a lot of “wow I didn’t know that muscle existed.” Low impact, but high intensity for a full body workout.

Cardio Barre

Take everything you love about Barre and turn it up a notch! Cardio Barre adds high intensity intervals into the mix for an endurance building class that’s still low impact and genuinely fun. Pilates core fundamentals keep everything grounded and controlled between the cardio bursts, so you’re working hard and moving smart.

Stuff we get asked (a lot)

Do your classes count as pilates classes?

Our classes are pilates-inspired rather than traditional pilates. That means the classes listed on this page incorporate pilates principles (breathwork, spinal alignment, deep core activation, and controlled movement) but may also blend barre, yoga, cardio and/or strength training elements. If you’re looking for the benefits of pilates, but with some variety and additional gains, you’ll find them here!

Do you have reformer pilates classes?

We don’t use reformer machines (our classes are mat and prop-based). If you’re after the results of reformer pilates (core strength, posture, flexibility, and low-impact conditioning) our classes deliver exactly that, no reformer needed.

Are your pilates based classes in the heat?

Mostly! Our Pilates Fusion, Core Flow, Flow & Lift and Circuit Up classes are all in our hot room, which is heated to 95°. Some of our Barre and Cardio Barre classes are in the hot room, and some are in our mild room, which is ~75°. Check our schedule for details!

Is pilates based training good for back pain?

It depends! Many people have found our classes have helped their back pain. The focus on spinal alignment, core stabilization, and gentle mobility makes pilates based classes beneficial for those with lower back discomfort, but back pain has many different causes and needs for treatment, so taking our classes is not a guarantee. We always recommend consulting your healthcare provider, and our instructors can offer modifications to suit your needs.

I'm a runner or cyclist. Will pilates based classes help me?

Absolutely. Madison’s active community knows that running the lake path or biking the Capital City Trail is great cardio, but pilates based training fills the gaps. Core stability, hip strength, and spinal mobility are exactly what endurance athletes need to stay injury-free and perform better.

How often should I take classes?

Most clients see meaningful results attending 2–3 times per week. Our classes provide a solid foundation for strength, flexibility, and overall health and can also complement any other training you’re doing (running, cycling, weightlifting, or yoga).
