Sun Prairie Yogi of the Month: Kelsey Garvey

How did you get started at Dfly?
I joined Dragonfly in January 2018 for the third time as a member. While my first time was in 2012 because I wanted to simply “try” yoga, this recent time was more purposeful. In July 2017 my husband and I welcomed our first child together, our daughter. While being a mom has been the best experience of my life, my first months of motherhood were difficult. As a teacher and new mother, I struggled with my postpartum body, postpartum emotions, and the new balance of my working mom life. My husband was the one who said “I think you need to get back to yoga,” so I decided to make it a priority. I don’t know why I didn’t think of it sooner, as it has truly been the balance I’ve needed to help me get through this new journey I’m on.

Middleton Yogi of the Month: Kristina Nicolai-White

I started taking yoga classes several years ago with my oldest daughter. She was a dancer and was looking to add something more to her routine, and I volunteered to try it with her. I love that experience with her. Even now, when she and I practice together we hold hands in shavasana. It’s such a lovely way for us to connect. I began doing a regular 5 days a week practice 2+ years ago, at a time of great change in my life. Having this space to call my home every day was incredible and I am not sure what I would have done without it. I love being in the studio. I added Flyght into my schedule in the last year and fell in love with that space as well. Between the two spaces, I am usually taking 9 classes a week.

Fitchburg Yogi of the Month: Chloe McCabe

My sister introduced me to Dfly last year. Last September, I had a pulmonary embolism, and it was a pretty close call. It made me really appreciate the strength of my heart and lungs, and I wanted to continue to grow that strength in a more intentional way than I had before. I started with Slow Flows, mostly making it through so that I could enjoy the cool scented towel at the end of class, but I quickly got hooked! I had taken yoga classes intermittently at a larger gym on and off for a few years before joining Dragonfly.

Downtown Yogi of the Month: Molly Philosophos

30 years ago my husband and I lived in Aspen, CO and that is when I did my first yoga class. We did a weekly class together and I only wish I would have continued. We lived in Oak Park, IL for the last 20 years and during that time I did yoga very sporadically.

My husband and I moved to Madison in August of 2016, at the same time that we also moved our youngest into Witte Hall. Our two older boys live and work in Madison so my husband and I decided to move back to the town where we went to college. I injured my wrist moving and putting IKEA furniture together (I know crazy) and was doing physical therapy and at the same time complaining that I was not able to work out. After a couple weeks of PT I decided to try Yoga. I was introduced to Dragonfly by Shelly and Carlin Johnson.
