Sun Prairie Yogi of the Month: Susan McBryde

I injured my back when my children were little and continued to have constant back pain for 20 years. While receiving a massage for my back pain my therapist encouraged me to try hot yoga to strengthen my back and help with pain management. I researched the available yoga studios/classes in Madison and chose Dragonfly Hot Yoga in Sun Prairie after a very pleasant phone call to the receptionist there! I had never participated in yoga before joining Dragonfly Hot Yoga in Sun Prairie. I was familiar with the practice but felt intimidated to try it myself.

There are so many things that I truly enjoy from attending Dragonfly Classes. I enjoy the calm and peace that I feel. I enjoy the immense pain relief I have obtained since beginning hot yoga!! I enjoy the mantras/teachings of the yoga instructors. I enjoy the AWESOME staff — including front desk, teachers and manager — who are ALWAYS loving, concerned and welcoming!! I have always felt that Sun Prairie Dragonfly is a home away from home for me due to the friendliness and acceptance. I also enjoy the fact that the teachers truly understand everyone is on a personal journey and they do not expect me (or anyone) to be perfect in our yoga poses. The teachers are always very in-tune with the yogis and offer support emotionally, physically, spiritually and psychologically.

Middleton Yogi of the Month: William Hutter

I had been contemplating trying hot yoga but was on the fence since heat really isn’t my thing. But, curiosity got the better of me when I found a Groupon for Dragonfly. Of course I didn’t use it and figured I was out the money. My partner loves Dragonfly and said I should call to see if I could use my Groupon…but alas, I didn’t. I belonged to a gym that gave me a free fitness test as a birthday gift; I went in for the test and failed miserably. According to the trainer, “wow, cardio really is all you can do. You literally have no flexibility or strength.” Feeling defeated, the next day I went to Dragonfly to get a tour, learn more about it, and FINALLY see if I could still use my Groupon…which was in fact honored.

Fitchburg Yogi of the Month: Laura Musekamp

I first heard about Dragonfly about three years ago through one of my friends. She had just purchased a groupon for a month of classes and convinced me to do the same. I was hooked after my first class, and I haven’t looked back since! Before Dragonfly, I practiced vinyasa on my own, took a few classes at another local studio, and occasionally practiced through the fitness center at my workplace, but unfortunately, I wasn’t always able to make the classes because of the demands of my job. I most enjoy the sense of balance that Dragonfly has added to my life. Every time I show up on the mat, I know I have a full hour to dedicate to self-improvement, gratitude, and reflection. The evening classes are always the perfect way to finish my day.

Downtown Yogi of the Month: Ellen Atterbury

I wanted to get involved in an exercise program where I wasn’t spending the entirety of my workout counting down every agonizing minute. I started my intro month September of 2016, and have happily had a student membership ever since. My yoga experience before Dfly was comprised of nothing apart from a few youtube clips! I used to work out frequently with my friend Phil (also a dedicated Dfly yogi), and we wanted to add a bit of variety to our cardio routine, so we began experimenting with yoga. I loved it, and wanted to pursue it more seriously. I feel very relaxed and much more focused after attending Dfly classes. I spend most of my time studying and reading, and Dfly provides me with the break I need – both for my physical health, but for my mental well being as well. I am always more productive after giving over an hour of my time to yoga!
