Sun Prairie Yogi of the Month: Beth Ott

I had my eye on Dragonfly for quite some time prior to joining. When Dragonfly opened the studio in Sun Prairie, I was so excited! I showed up to their very first class on their opening weekend, was greeted by Kristin, and never looked back.

When I lived up in Minneapolis, I had a great yoga experience and loved the classes and atmosphere. When I moved down here seven years ago, I had difficulty replicating that feeling. Prior to Dragonfly, I had tried several different ‘gyms’, none of which stuck. They were cold, I was unmotivated and I didn’t have that personal connection.

Middleton Yogi of the Month: Liz Waldinger

My friend and I started at Dragonfly with the free trial class. I had very little yoga experience so I was looking forward to learning something new. The first class I attended was Fire. I enjoyed the heat of the room, as it added a new challenge of focusing on breathing.

As my attendance increased over the introductory month, I found myself trying all of the different classes. I attended almost every day, which helped me begin this healthy routine. While exploring all the classes Dragonfly has to offer, I discovered that my favorite classes are the Yoga Up classes. The weight training, cardio intervals and yoga poses truly make a complete class that meet my needs.

Fitchburg Yogi of the Month: Michael Thorson

When I was younger, I played college football, ran marathons, jumped out of airplanes and crawled through the mud as an infantry lieutenant. For the last 16 years, I sat at a desk in an office working in finance and started to deteriorate from a fitness perspective. I finally had enough and bought a Dfly 10-class Groupon and did my first class in April 2012… oh, boy it was ugly! Fast forward 3 ½ years, 161 classes and 23 pounds later… lovin’ it! Unless you count jazzercise and aerobics in the ‘70s… kidding, not that old, I had absolutely no experience.

Two things I enjoy about Dragonfly, which are totally unrelated. First is the energy, camaraderie and vibe from the rest of the yogis, especially in the classes I take regularly along with many of the same people each week. Second, I really like getting a great cardio, strength and flexibility workout all at once. For 60-90 minutes, I don’t have to put an ounce of thought into what I am doing – No wondering which set is next, or how much weight or reps to lift, or what path to get the right distance running. Nothing. Our Jedi yoga masters do it all for you!

Downtown Yogi of the Month: Anne Naparstek

I got started at Dfly because I was looking for a way to just get moving more. I have a 3-year old daughter who occupies most of my time, so I was looking for something that was close to home or work and easy to get to. The Introductory Month allowed me to try lots of different class offerings and the early morning classes very quickly became a part of my routine!

Before Dfly, I did not have much yoga experience. I had thought that it would be great to work yoga into my life, but had never done anything about it. I always felt intimidated by trying to join someplace new. The welcoming, yoga-for-all atmosphere at Dfly definitely caught my attention in a way that had not been the case at other studios or gyms. And now, with the heat, I am hooked. I wonder how I will ever be able to go anywhere else.
