My Teaching Style

I genuinely hope that my enthusiasm for the yoga practice is evident in every single class I teach! My goal is to create thoughtful, well-rounded sequences that are designed to make everyone feel welcome, safe, inspired, and challenged in the best way possible. I especially like classes that are ‘sneaky hard’. Those are the classes that while you are moving through the postures, it doesn’t seem that difficult, but then afterward you think, “wow, okay…I am feeling that in all the right ways”. Additionally, there will always be a focus on breath in my classes as it will be used to guide movement and calm your nervous system.

I fell in love with yoga in 2009 and I’ve been smitten ever since! For years I could be found as an enthusiastic practitioner in the Milwaukee area. In 2018 I took my relationship with yoga to the next level and completed a 200-hour yoga teacher training with Yandara Yoga Institute in Skinnskatteberg, Sweden. It was then that I transitioned to Madison and spent time learning, growing, practicing, working, and teaching at local studios. I am absolutely thrilled to be teaching at Dragonfly, a studio that holds a special place in my heart for welcoming me to the Madison area so warmly!

Favorite Pose

How does one pick a favorite?! They are all so good! I really enjoy utthita Trikonasana or extended triangle. It is such a great stretch for the lower body while challenging the core. It makes me feel grounded, strong, and mentally calm. I am also a huge fan of adho mukha savasana or downward facing corpse pose. There is something about the passive neck stretch while relaxing that is pure magic to me!

Favorite Quote

Again, it is difficult for me to pick just one!

Why I Love Dragonfly

I associate Dragonfly with my transition from Milwaukee to Madison. At a time when so much was changing in my life (location, career, relationships), Dragonfly provided me with a space to feel grounded, connected, and supported!

Little Known Fact About Me

I spent 11 years teaching High School and most of that time was spent teaching AP Psychology. My experience in that type of classroom has helped me tremendously as a yoga instructor and I am so grateful that I have that foundation!
