My first visit to Dragonfly was the best decision I made for myself in 2018! Previously I was getting my fitness fix at a kickboxing studio with HIIT in a circuit setting. When the studio announced it was closing, I decided to try something out of my comfort zone by attending a class at Dragonfly. I had no experience with yoga and thought I might pass out doing hot yoga! I had never been so comfortable in an unfamiliar setting and couldn’t wait to come back the next day. I attended a barre class at another studio a few years ago and enjoyed it, so I thought that’s what I’d sign up for most. I tried as many classes as I could my first few days and went straight for the full membership, so I could continue to enjoy them all.

Middleton Yogi of the Month: Jackie Flavin

I moved to Madison from Chicago when I was 8 months pregnant and needed a way to stay active. I was so fortunate to find Dragonfly’s Barre and prenatal yoga classes. Many of the prenatal work outs around are too gentle to really break a sweat. Dragonfly offered a good burn while the teachers guided me safely through the classes. Soon after I had my baby, I jumped into Yoga Up and Power Up classes. I’ve tried it all and I think the Yoga + Barre + Fitness offerings at Dragonfly are easily the best in town.

Fitchburg Yogi of the Month: Deirdre Green

How did you get started at Dfly?
I wanted to start exercising regularly and had a membership at a 24 hour gym but rarely went there to run on the treadmill as had been the plan. I’d considered classes, but thought “I can’t do classes, I hate exercising with other people” but a friend persuaded me to try it and I found out I loved it! I’ve been at Dfly for about three years now.

What is/was your yoga/barreamped experience before Dfly?
I’d done a few yoga classes but no BarreAmped ones; mainly Bikram yoga and I liked it but did it infrequently.

Downtown Yogi of the Month: Caroline Matkom

How did you get started at Dfly?
I was struggling to find a consistent, enjoyable workout routine until my friend and fellow Dragonfly member, Anna Gustafson, encouraged me to join in January 2017!

What is/was your yoga experience before Dfly?
I was never exposed to yoga in my childhood, but started doing yoga once every 2 months for soccer training in high school. My body always felt strong and empowered during yoga, therefore I wanted to pursue yoga classes in college.

What do you enjoy most from attending Dfly classes?
I love the camaraderie of Dragonfly classes – I feel like I am on a team. I am constantly inspired and pushed by other members in the class.
