Sun Prairie Yogi of the Month: Alyson Rogers

How did you get started at Dfly? What is/was your yoga/barreamped experience before Dfly?
I used to get the majority of my exercise through running either outside or on a treadmill. Eventually this took a toll on my knees and I changed to walking to get my exercise, but again, that had a toll on my knees and feet. As I was telling this to a friend (who was a long-time yogi!), she suggested I come to a class at Dragonfly with her to give it a try. I’d never done a yoga class (or Barre!) at a studio before, so I wasn’t really sure what to expect. Most of my experience with yoga consisted of at-home workout videos with my couch (and pause button) nearby. I was surprised to learn a few things about myself after those first few sessions: (1) that I really thrived with the structure of a class schedule to follow and (2) The impact having an accountability partner had on my attendance (at least while I was still getting my feet wet!) I’ve been doing yoga at Dragonfly for a while now and am so happy that my knees and feet are feeling GREAT!!!

Middleton Yogi of the Month: Yeong Kim

My new year’s resolution had been the same for a decade before joining Dragonfly Hot Yoga. It was to find fitness so I can lose weight, gain strength and relieve stress. I joined a gym but ended up donating two years of membership. I played tennis with my husband. He is a great player but not a good coach (I still love him). Then I tried golf and liked it until the attack of the mosquitoes. Sadly I get severe allergic reactions to mosquito bites. One day I saw a Dragonfly Hot Yoga car magnet while driving. What a cute name! So I searched it on the web and found out there’s a free trial class. Who knew I would fall in love with hot yoga on the first try! The class satisfied my long desire of searching for a work out that feels just right for me. I couldn’t find any single reason to look for another yoga studio to compare it with Dfly. Needless to say I became a loyal member since the summer of 2014.

Fitchburg Yogi of the Month: Jennifer Klawiter

My very first class was on New Year’s Eve 2017 with Cassie. I loved everything about it… so much so that when I woke up the next morning, I made the decision to take care of myself and become a member of Dfly. I’ve only missed a handful of days since I’ve started and I can’t imagine my life without Dfly! My prior experience was definitely minimal. I attended yoga classes after school once/twice a week, which were taught by Cassie in our library or gym.

I love connecting with all of the yoga teachers. I truly see them as my mentors and friends. I appreciate how I am given the opportunity to take what I need from each class. Most often I take the physical challenge to increase my strength and flexibility, and to improve my balance. However, I am noticing yoga is so much more than that. I often find myself equally working on the mental challenges class provides me… using positive self-talk, staying in the moment, pushing myself beyond my comfort zone to try new poses, listening to my body and noticing how it feels. Putting all of that together is what I truly love, the best of both worlds!

Downtown Yogi of the Month: Alex Vollmer

How did you get started at Dfly?
I started at Dfly in April of this year, as a physical extension of my own meditation practice. I live in the Ovation, so it was an easy ride down the elevator to get started!

What is/was your yoga experience before Dfly?
I’d dabbled in some yogic practices while in was in college in Dallas, but never really settled into my own personal practice. Dfly has changed that!

What do you enjoy most from attending Dfly classes?
I love the sense of community at Dfly and the inclusivity of the space. For all intents and purposes, I am still very much a beginner; each time I walk in the studio I am met with a friendly face and encouragement.
