When I first moved to Madison after college to start my job, I was looking for someplace to workout daily. I debated joining a gym, but always found myself becoming bored with the routine thirty to forty-five minutes of cardio and weight lifting. I wanted something with variety and something that could challenge me. After some research, I found Dragonfly and their introductory month for new students. Once I began, I didn’t want to stop.
Before Dragonfly my University offered yoga as a group exercise class. I went to those classes sporadically during my four years of college. I love that every time I attend class, it’s different. Though the poses remain the same, the way the instructors piece together a class always differs and I also enjoy the varying degrees of challenge within a class.
I have noticed I’m sleeping better and I’m less stressed in my daily life. I find myself with an overall feeling of calm and well-being. I take class about six days a week. I try to take a variety of classes, but my favorite tends to be the Yin. I love the deep stretching and how relaxing the class is.
I always find it ironic how much I enjoy hot yoga, because I hate hot weather, but I’m so glad that I found Dragonfly and became part of the Dragonfly community. Thank you for being so welcoming and I can’t wait to take more classes.
Instructor Kathryn Keener: “I so appreciate Alexis’ balanced approach to her fitness and well-being. She commits to a variety of classes on a consistent basis and practices with intelligence. For example, Alexis maintains beautiful, healthy alignment during BarreAmped because she is self-aware and chooses to challenge herself appropriately; these same attributes allow her to honor her body during a Flow or Yin class. Alexis is someone who works hard, but is willing to re-set or take a child’s pose, which is so wise. Yoga and fitness aside, Alexis is gracious, kind, and has a lovely demeanor. We are very lucky that she is part of the Dragonfly Community.
