My Teaching Style

I strive to teach classes where students can tap into their body awareness and flow into their moving meditation. My teaching is marked by focused, alignment-based cues, creative escalation sequences, challenging balances, moments for organic movement, and space for silence. Core strength is crucial for our stability, so expect some pilates-based work in class :) Coming from a ballet background, I love when movement feels expansive, twisty, and dance-like, but also holds anatomical purpose and integrity. Walking out of my class, I hope students feel energized, strong, and at peace; ready to gently approach the rest of their day.

Experience

I began practicing yoga in 2016, as a supplement to classical dance training. Yoga was an opportunity for me to tap into both freedom and non-judgement, and cultivate body awareness for injury prevention. As I continued dancing through my undergraduate at UW-Madison, and my yoga practice continued to grow into a more and more important part of my life. In the last 2 years, I have taken a strong interest in contemplative practices and the spiritual roots of yoga. I love to study the relationships between meditation, asana practice, and life off the mat! I am so grateful to be a part of the DFly community. Thank you for sharing your practice with me!

Favorite Pose

Trikonasana/Triangle: I enjoy the process of getting my hips and shoulders in one flat plane in this pose. Triangle is great combination of stretch across the inner thigh, strength in the obliques, opening across the chest, and energy through the arms to the fingertips.

Favorite Quote

“It is possible to live twenty-four hours a day in a state of love. Every movement, every glance, every thought, and every word can be infused with love.”
—Thich Nhat Hanh
