How did you get started at Dfly?
A couple of friends dragged me along last winter, and I just never stopped going after that.
What was your yoga/barre experience before Dfly?
Pretty spotty. I had tried yoga before, but never found something I connected with enough to stay consistent. I think I saw it more as exercise than an experience of connecting with my body and being present.
What do you enjoy most from attending Dfly classes?
Flow and Yin are the ones I keep coming back to. I love the movement and energy of Flow, but especially the stillness of Yin, it helps me settle into my body. I also bring mindfulness of the four elements, earth, water, fire, and air, into my practice. Being in the heat gives me a tangible way to connect with the fire element, while movement, breath, and stillness help me experience the others.
Have you experienced any changes in your overall well-being since taking classes?
Yes, definitely, and I think the people around me notice it too. It’s not something I can fully explain; it’s more something you experience than describe.
How often do you attend classes? Favorite class?
I try to go five times a week. I have lots of favourites, Marc’s Aroma Flow, Allie and Emma’s Yin and Flow, and Melissa’s Adventurous Flow, but Rachel’s Yin takes the top spot. There’s something about the room, the positivity, and the way she brings calm and embodiment into the practice. It just hits differently.
Any other thoughts on Dfly, hot yoga, or your life?
Dfly has become more than just exercise for me. It’s an experience of slowing down, reconnecting with my body, and noticing what’s happening in the moment. I’ve learned that growth isn’t always about pushing harder; it can also be about just staying, breathing, softening, and simply being with our true, beautiful nature.
Instructor Rachel G: “Tutu frequents my Friday night Yin 60 classes at DFly East. He is a genuine human and enthusiastic yogi who embraces the challenges that Yin presents. It is so clear that he finds enjoyment out of all parts of the practice: the asana, pranayma, meditation and connection to spirit!”
