How did you get started at Dragonfly?
A couple of friends that attend Dragonfly encouraged me to give it a try. I had done a lot of running and walking over the years, but as I have gotten older, I was experiencing a lot of back pain. I was skeptical because I was unsure of the heat and I thought yoga would be too slow for me. Boy, was I wrong!
What was your yoga or barre experience before joining us?
I had never tried yoga or barre before coming to Dragonfly so I was very nervous about trying it but I have found all the instructors, the staff at the desk and yogis so friendly, nonjudgmental and inclusive I feel l have finally found a place that I look forward to going to.
What do you enjoy most about attending Dragonfly classes?
I love the variety of classes and being able to schedule my classes each week for what works best for me. I am incredibly lucky that I live less than 10 minutes from the Fitchburg, Verona & Middleton studios so the variety of classes seem endless!
Have you experienced any changes in your total well-being since you started taking classes?
I can’t believe how much stronger I have become since joining Dragonfly. I have not had the severe back issues I was having before I joined and when my back does get a little sore, I am able to incorporate stretches I have learned or I get to the next Yin class so I can get on with doing things I enjoy.
How often do you attend, and do you have a favorite class?
When I started almost two years ago, my goal was to attend at least three classes a week. As I tried different classes and my strength, balance and flexibility increased, I am now attending 5-6 times a week and many times I do 2-3 classes a day. All the classes are great but I do a lot of Barre, Flow & Lift, Flow & Yin and there is nothing like a good Yin class to just really slow things down and stretch everything out. I have also attended some of the special events that are offered. The last one was Attitude of Gratitude and it was pure heaven. I would encourage everyone to check those out.
Please feel free to share any other thoughts about Dragonfly, hot yoga, or yourself—we would love to know more about you!
I was really skeptical about joining as I knew the heat in the studio would be a challenge and I have never stuck with other gym memberships in the past but Dragonfly has been a game changer for me. I had let life get in the way of taking care of myself for the last 20 years but since I have been coming to Dragonfly, I have learned that the 45-60 minutes that I am in class is time to just focus on me and that nothing else matters during this time.
