I found Dragonfly Hot Yoga a couple of years ago after trying several other studios in the area and never quite feeling like I had found the right fit.
I’ve practiced yoga on and off for nearly 20 years, but it wasn’t until 2023 that I discovered hot yoga. That completely changed things for me. The intensity, the focus, the depth… it unlocked a new level in my practice. At this point, I don’t want to practice any other way.
I enjoy how deeply I can drop into my practice. The heat helps me get into my muscles and out of my mind. It strips away distractions and creates the space to focus, breathe, and push myself in a way that’s both challenging and grounding.
Yoga has strengthened me in a different way. Coming from a high-stress, fast-paced environment as a business owner, I already had mental fortitude. Yoga has helped me develop the awareness to soften that edge, slow down, and come back to my breath and the present moment.
Physically, it’s been transformational. I had severe neck pain from years of competitive figure skating. A few years back, I could barely turn my head. With yoga and holistic medical intervention, I’ve regained full mobility and can now move into deep, demanding positions with strength and without pain.
My loose goal is to attend 3 classes each week. I most enjoy Colin’s Fire Slow Flow on Sundays in Middleton. The slow pace of Colin’s class allows me to go deeper into my poses, the fire challenges my control, and Colin’s deep, rhythmic voice puts me in a trance. I’m ready for anything after that class.
I completed my 200-hour yoga teacher training in 2024 and am registered with Yoga Alliance. I’m currently working toward my 500 YTT, although I haven’t stepped into teaching yet. For now, I’m focused on deepening my own practice, but I wouldn’t rule out teaching in the future.
Instructor Colin P.: “Erin, even on her down days, comes to class with a smile. You’ll often see her in the front row providing inspiration to other yogis in class by performing harder varieties of poses and sometimes staying after class practicing arm balances with fellow yogis.”
