
How did you get started at Dfly?
I have always enjoyed group fitness classes and find I am most motivated to exercise in a structured setting. When the Fitchburg studio first opened I was curious about how the heat would feel, but was hesitant to try it since I had little yoga experience. I finally got up the courage to try my first Dfly flow class and felt great afterwards, so started trying other classes as well. That was years ago and this year I hope to attend my 1000th class!
What was your yoga/barre experience before Dfly?
I had taken a few yoga and barre classes at a small health club near my home in Oregon, but they weren’t offered very often so my experience was limited.
What do you enjoy most from attending Dfly classes?
I love that after years of yoga classes at Dfly my practice has strengthened, but am still learning and trying new things.
Have you experienced any changes in your total well-being since taking classes?How often do you attend classes? Favorite class?
Once I started taking flow and barre classes regularly, I could feel a physical change. Barre especially, had a way of using and building endurance in muscles that I previously had not used much. Flow has helped to build physical strength, but also has inspired me to explore how breathwork can calm and increase mental focus. I usually can get to 3 or 4 classes per week, with at least one of them being a barre class. I love all the classes I take, but the one that has been most beneficial to me right now is the 4:00 Flow & Yin on Friday in Fitchburg. I work in special education at an elementary school and that class is a great way for me to refresh at the end of the week.
Dragonfly Hot Yoga has become an important part of both my mental and physical wellness. I have introduced my husband and daughters to Dragonfly and so it has become something we can enjoy together. A yoga practice is something that will be sustainable for me as I age (I recently became a grandma) and I plan on being a regular at Dragonfly for years to come.
