I started at Dragonfly approximately six or seven years ago as an occasional winter oasis to help me get through the never-ending Wisconsin winters. I had very minimal yoga experience beforehand (aside from the occasional YMCA class or YouTube video). When the Verona studio opened, I took advantage of a regular monthly pass sale, and I slowly began attending more classes.

My love and appreciation for yoga grew exponentially during an extremely stressful personal time in my life beginning in 2023. As I navigated the ongoing challenges of separation, divorce, coparenting and moves, yoga became a sacred grounding space for me to be physically active and to help calm the racing thoughts that sometimes dominated.

I love the small challenges that yoga presents and how great it feels when you master a new pose. I love feeling noticeably stronger in something that once was a struggle. I love the reminders to breathe, to be present and to feel the calm that follows an incredible sweat session. There are so many lessons learned on the mat that can translate to our daily lives. Yoga has been an integral part in my journey to become physically and mentally stronger.

I try to attend a class at Dragonfly two or three times per week. My favorite classes are core flow, power flow, and flow and lift. Thank you, Dragonfly!
