I’ve been a weight lifter and personal trainer for about 9 years, moving my body and living an active lifestyle is really important to me. Last year I was craving supplemental movement outside of the weight room that enhanced recovery, prioritized stress management, and was something that truly felt like a hobby and less of a “must check off my to-do list”. Yoga has always been a practice that I’ve been drawn to, so I asked for a Dfly membership for Christmas. I started attending classes in January of 2025 and I’ve been going multiple times a week ever since!
I’ve practiced yoga on and off since high school, but never had a consistent class or studio to attend. In college, I attended a really beautiful studio as a guest of the mother of the girl I used to nanny, and fell in love with hot yoga. I missed it so much when I graduated. Dfly has a great reputation and a lot of my personal training clients have gone to their classes, so it seemed like an obvious first choice for a studio!
I absolutely love getting a good sweat and classes at Dfly do the job every time! I ultimately really enjoy the mental and emotional break hot yoga offers. I get to be present with myself, focusing on my breath, with no phone or distractions for an hour. It’s like therapy.
I am a bio-feedback girl so I have an Apple Watch and Oura ring that tracks a lot of my activity and physical responses. Since joining Dfly and consistently attending classes, I’ve improved my VO2 max, improved my average HRV, and increased the amount of deep sleep I get. Aside from physical changes, my stress is more manageable and my overall mental health is really strong.
I attend classes 2-3 times a week on the days I am not lifting. I love Wednesday nights with Jori and Sunday’s Fire Slow Flow with Colin is the best!
I’m really grateful for the community Dfly offers and I have met some wonderful people! Outside of working out and being active, I love to travel, read books on the couch with my two kitties Murray and Squid, and spend time with great friends.
Instructor Colin P.: “Riley puts amazing effort and resolve into even the most challenging of classes. She’s always an inspiration to the yogis practicing with her in class.”
