Valerie B. | Dragonfly Hot Yoga Madison WI

Valerie B.

How did you get started at Dfly?
I was looking for a way to improve my health after I graduated. I had a friend speak really highly of Dfly, so I decided to try it out because I was always interested in getting into yoga. I made the classic mistake of going to a Yoga Up class with her and got much more than I bargained for, but I loved every second of it. My butt was kicked, and I had to go back.

What was your yoga/barre experience before Dfly?
Little to none. I attended yoga from time to time when I was a member of the YMCA. But I never really made it part of my fitness routine until I joined Dfly.

What do you enjoy most from attending Dfly classes?
I love the community. Everyone is so friendly. I love having a safe space to de-stress after a long day. It is nice to only think about the next move I’ll be making on the mat for the next 45-60 minutes instead of all the outside noise. Going to classes really improves my headspace.

Have you experienced any changes in your total well-being since taking classes?
I’ve learned that I can still get a fantastic work out while listening to what my body needs. Modifications are ok. I’ve become more confident and more accepting of myself while also being more willing to challenge myself and try new things.

How often do you attend classes? Favorite class?
I try to attend class 3-4 times a week. My favorite classes are Circuit Up with Carly, and Power Up with Carrie (shout out Swifties) and Jake. I enjoy a good Flow class too!

Please feel free to share any other thoughts you have about Dfly, hot yoga, or your life as we would love to know more about you.
Joining Dfly has been one of the best decisions I’ve made. I work as a nurse practitioner. Dfly helps me to take care of myself so I can continue taking care of others. It adds some much needed balance to my life.

Instructor Carrie M: “Valerie has the biggest heart, warm smile, and always shows up in class strong and engaged. I get so excited to see Valerie signed up for my classes. It’s such an honor that she’s part of our community! Thanks for being you, and thank you for sharing your love for Taylor Swift with me!”
