Erin V. | Dragonfly Hot Yoga Madison WI

Erin V.

How did you get started at Dfly?
I started at Dragonfly Fitchburg when it first opened. I had taken a year leave from teaching after I had my first child. She is now almost 15, but she used to come with me to class most weekday mornings and utilize the childcare while I took care of my physical and mental health.

What was your yoga/barre experience before Dfly?
Prior to Dragonfly I didn’t have any yoga experience, but I had a strong interest in becoming a yogi. I am a believer in timing and Dragonfly opened and I joined the community at a time I needed it most. I suffered from postpartum depression and the community and practices at Dragonfly helped to bring consistency and healing into my life.

What do you enjoy most from attending Dfly classes?
I love meeting new people and sharing the energy of the yoga studios. I always feel calmer and more connected to the important things after spending an hour focused on breath and movement at Dragonfly.

Have you experienced any changes in your total well-being since taking classes?
Throughout my time as a yogi at Dragonfly I have grown my family, continued my education, and made professional and personal moves. With each transition I lean on yoga and the community at Dragonfly. My time practicing feels like the most true version of myself; one that I am learning to love and trust more each day. I have stronger self-awareness and the ability to respond more carefully in challenging situations. The physical strength I’ve gained ebbs and flows during different seasons of life, but the mental strength is where I have seen the most consistent changes in my well-being.

How often do you attend classes? Favorite class?
I try to get to classes 2-3 times per week. My favorite class is Yin & Flow…the best of both worlds.

Instructor Meghan C.: “Erin embodies all that it means to be a yogi! She is mindful of her physical practice and her breath, but even more so, she is intentional in how she shows up in the world. She is kind and compassionate and constantly trying to better herself and the world around her. It’s been an honor to see her practice deepen and grow!”
