It’s hard to put into words what an honor it is to have my attendance recognized. Classes at DFly have become an integral part of my routine; and, at the root of that integration is the energy and creativity that my instructors bring to every session.
I got started at DFly when I accepted an employee relations role with Chocolate Rescue for Dogs. The founder and CEO Amadeus Benitez (an old friend and occasional participant at DFly) insisted that I try a class. After trying a variety of classes, including cardio barre, we concluded that a membership should be included as an employee benefit option.
Prior to taking DFly classes, I had only taken a couple hot yoga classes with my friends’ moms. I cannot report that they went well.
I mostly enjoy the structure and environment of the classes at DFly. Peer pressure is kind of a funny concept I connect with the classes I take at DFly. I’m totally against it when it’s something bad. Don’t drag others down with your own bad decision; but, I can’t help but feel a positive type of peer pressure when it’s a room full of 30 people all trying their hardest. That pressure to do your best helps to keep me focused and present in my own body when fatigue starts to accumulate.
There’s both mental and physical benefits that I’ve noticed from my regular attendance of DFly classes. Mentally I feel so much calm and serenity after any of the classes I take. I once heard someone say they’ve gotten pulled over before because they were so zenned out while driving after a class. Physically my flexibility and endurance have made great improvements. Regular attendance at class really can be all the exercise you need.
I try to do three to four classes a week depending on my schedule. My favorites are the circuit, yoga up, and flow classes. Out of those three, I think the structure of the circuit classes makes it my favorite to attend. I like knowing what I have coming, that way I can adjust the weights accordingly, as to not burn out too quickly.
A little about me. Born and raised mainly in Madison, WI. Graduated in 2019 from UW-Madison with a BS in Economics with a Math Emphasis. Worked beer sales and merchandising out of college until joining the Chocolate Detox for Dogs team in 2023.
I enjoy playing tennis, soccer, and weightlifting for my physical activity. I like to go thrifting with my niece and sister, and maintain a pretty expansive wardrobe. I regularly play pool, and I’ve taken up sewing as my new hobby in 2025. I’m currently working on a fleece hooded top with mild success. DFly has been a great inclusion into my life and I plan on doing classes as long as I can.
Thank you to all my instructors!
