How did you get started at Dfly?
When I was in college circa 2015, my random roommate-turned-best friend (still is!) introduced me to yoga at the downtown Dragonfly Studio. We would attend class as often as possible – shout out to Monday night slow flows with Katie Monk! After college, once I started my career, I stopped prioritizing time for myself, and my yoga practice faded. Fast forward to spring 2023, and I rediscovered Dragonfly and tons of classes and instructors I love!
What was your yoga/barre experience before Dfly?
I had zero experience with yoga before Dfly! The studio is amazing in how it caters to all experience levels. I love all the modifications and options to truly “take what you need and leave what you don’t” every class.
What do you enjoy most from attending Dfly classes?
My favorite part is definitely the community. The connection with other Dfly yogis is so special – I’ve made great friends, and it’s wonderful to see familiar faces in every class. I enjoy exchanging smiles with everyone, including the instructors and front desk staff, and knowing I’m part of such a welcoming and supportive environment.
Have you experienced any changes in your total well-being since taking classes?
Absolutely! The mental benefits are by far the most rewarding aspect of my practice. While the physical improvements in strength, flexibility, and balance are fantastic, the mental clarity and peace I gain after a Dfly flow are priceless. Yoga has taught me how to sit with uncomfortable feelings, process them, and move through them, rather than push them aside. It’s challenging work, but my practice has given me the tools to better navigate that process.
How often do you attend classes? Favorite class?
I typically attend classes 5-6 times a week, and I love each one! Flow is my go-to for getting in touch with what my body knows, but Fascia Yoga has quickly become a close second. I’ve learned so much in Anna’s weekly Fascia classes, from how movement is generated in the body to properly preparing for an arm bind. Fascia loves chaos, and it’s been such a fascinating part of my practice!
There’s nothing better than hot (or better yet, fire) yoga on a freezing winter day. It’s the perfect way to feel energized and grounded in the cold months!
Instructor Anna Lindstrom: “It is always a pleasure to have Christine in class. She always comes with a curious mind and a smile. Her willingness to try new things, ask questions to clarify, and share what is happening in her own body and mind continues to inspire me. It is a privilege to be a small part of her journey.”
