Angela W. | Dragonfly Hot Yoga Madison WI

Angela W.

How did you get started at Dfly?
It’s my neighborhood yoga studio! I couldn’t miss the bright Dragonfly logo and large windows of the studio visible off of Junction Rd. Being within walking/biking distance definitely makes it easy to come to class, so it was a no-brainer to start coming to Dragonfly.

What was your yoga/barre experience before Dfly?
I’ve done yoga on and off in some form or another for over twenty years now. I started with mostly fitness-oriented yoga and pilates/yoga fusion classes, first at the college rec center and then through my workplace fitness offerings. I even taught yoga and pilates/yoga for corporate group fitness classes for several years! If you wanted a heart-pumping, muscle-burning flow with an unconventional soundtrack, I was your girl.

What do you enjoy most from attending Dfly classes?
As my body’s gotten older, I’ve started needing more rehabilitation and restoration from my yoga practice. I’ve found some good formats and teachers at Dragonfly that speak to that need for me.

Have you experienced any changes in your total well-being since taking classes?
I use yoga as a regular way of checking in with my body, to see how my balance, flexibility, focus, and tolerance for being uncomfortable are faring from day to day. Some days it’s empowering, and some days it’s humbling, but no matter the outcome I’m always thankful for whatever I learned about myself that day in class.

How often do you attend classes? Favorite class?
I attend Suki’s Wednesday and Friday morning classes in Middleton as regularly as I can. She is a bright force of positive energy, and she brings something fresh and unique to every class, whether it’s a new entry to a familiar pose or a challenging balance pose I didn’t know I could aspire to. I also enjoy any opportunity I get to take a good yin yoga class – for yin yoga, Julia’s yin yoga on Wednesday evening in Middleton and John’s yin yoga with sound bath on Sunday evenings in Fitchburg have been favorites of mine.

Please feel free to share any other thoughts you have about Dfly, hot yoga, or your life as we would love to know more about you.
I’ve run over 25 marathons. I volunteer with a local organization that breeds and raises guide dogs for visually impaired persons. Outside of work, my life basically revolves around running and puppies, so I would say I’ve got it pretty good at this stage in my life :-)

Instructor Suki Warda: “When I think of Angela, I think of a sincere devotee, on and off the mat. The energy that Angela brings to class is supportive, kind, soft and strong. Her support can be felt in deep listening, kindness is often reflected with genuine smiles, her softness lies within appreciative attention, while her strength flows through from practicing without expectations & embracing challenges with lightness.”
