Downtown Yogi of the Month: Carly Edge | Dragonfly Hot Yoga Madison WI

Downtown Yogi of the Month: Carly Edge

How did you get started at Dfly?
I moved back to Madison in early 2021 and was interested in joining a fitness community and getting back into hot yoga. As things started opening back up after COVID, I gave DFLY a try. I instantly loved it!

I also had a goal for myself to close my rings on my Apple Watch everyday for a year. DFLY helped me close my rings and reach my goal. I am now at 491 days in a row for closing all my rings!

What was your yoga/Barre experience before Dfly?
I used to do hot yoga 3-4 times a week when I was in college. After college I moved away from Madison for work and did not continue my practice because I could not find a studio I loved.

That’s why I was so excited when I moved back to Madison, because I could join the Dfly community.

What do you enjoy most from attending Dfly classes?
I love the hot room, it’s such a good feeling to get a sweat in. I also love the community that comes along with Dfly. It’s the teachers and people that keep me coming back each week. :)

Have you experienced any changes in your total well-being since taking classes?
Before I started doing yoga regularly, I would get really bad headaches and upper back pain from sitting in front of a computer screen all day. After about 2-3mo of attending yoga classes my upper back pain went away and I now get fewer headaches. I am also more confident in myself and my overall mental health has greatly improved. I look forward to yoga and treat it as “me” time.

How often do you attend classes? Favorite class?
I try to attend classes at least 3 times a week. My favorite class is Power Up with Brooklyn :) I also really enjoy Yoga Up classes.

Please feel free to share any other thoughts you have about Dfly, hot yoga, or your life as we would love to know more about you.
I love the Dfly community, I feel that everyone is so supportive of each other and works to keep each other accountable. I am so lucky to be able to work remotely and be back in Madison (the city I love the most) and be a part of the Dfly community.
