Sun Prairie Yogi of the Month: Hannah O’Neill and Jake Schramm

Hannah’s responses:
How did you get started at Dfly?
My friend, Tina Wahl, told us about the free intro class Dfly offers. We went with her to Carrie’s Yoga Up class, and we were hooked!

What is/was your yoga/BarreAmped experience before Dfly?
I had done a little bit of online yoga at home, but never really stuck with it.

What do you enjoy most from attending Dfly classes?
I love meeting everyone in the Dfly community! Everyone makes Dfly so welcoming and wonderful.

Have you experienced any changes in your total well-being since taking classes?
YES! I am less stressed and sleep easier. I also feel stronger, and I am more flexible than I have ever been.

How often do you attend classes? Favorite class?
I try to go as often as I can, and I shoot for at least a few times a week. I don’t know if I can pick a favorite class! I love the variety that Dfly offers. Every instructor crafts such amazing and unique classes that always seem to provide just what I need that day. I love getting my sweat on (and chaturangas in) during Carrie’s Yoga Up. I love de-stressing and challenging myself at the end the work week with Bekah’s Aroma Slow Flow. The great thing about Dfly is I can have a favorite class for every day of the week!

Please feel free to share any other thoughts you have about Dfly, hot yoga, or your life as we would love to know more about you.
I love going to Dfly with Jake. He makes my Dfly experience even better! Having him in the Yoga Up classes really helps me push myself to do my best. I always have fun getting his thoughts on classes we went to together, filling him in on classes I went to solo, and hearing about classes I missed. I love that Dfly is letting us be Yogi of the Month together, because Jake is such an important part of my Dfly experience!

Jake’s Responses:
How did you get started at Dfly?
One of Hannah’s friends told us about Dragonfly, so we decided to give it a try. The first class we attended was Carrie’s Tuesday night Yoga Up. It was such an intense and great workout, and it had been a few years since I sweat as much as I did during that class. We really enjoyed the class and we wanted to see what other types of classes were offered.

What is/was your yoga/BarreAmped experience before Dfly?
Very limited, I had attended a few free yoga classes at a local gym in college. I had never even heard of BarreAmped classes before.

What do you enjoy most from attending Dfly classes?
I like the variety of classes offered and how no two classes are ever the same. There are certain classes that we try and attend every week, and you never really know what to expect. I also like seeing how much Hannah and I have grown as yoga students. My endurance has gotten much better after all the Yoga Up classes we have attended.

Have you experienced any changes in your total well-being since taking classes?
YES! I have an old wrestling injury that has caused me years of lower back and hip pain. After attending a few weeks of all the different yoga classes there has been a noticeable decrease in the intensity of the pain. With the relief of my back pack I was able to start running long distances again and jumping exercises no longer bother me! Hannah and I both stress a lot about work and being able to have something we look forward to doing after work is such a mental relief.

How often do you attend classes? Favorite class?
I try to attend 2-4 classes a week. Every class I have attended I have really enjoyed. We make it a point to get to one of Carrie’s Yoga Up classes and one of Bekah’s Yin classes every week. I think my favorite class is the Yin & Meditation class with Bekah Saturdays at noon. I think the slow pace and the long holds of this class has helped my back out a lot. It also introduced me to my favorite pose, the deer pose.

I love the welcoming atmosphere at Dragonfly. Just opening the door and being greeted with a smile and a “Hey Jake” really turns a bad day around. I am not a very outgoing person so the kind atmosphere helps put me at ease.
