Middleton Yogi of the Month: Brendan Baxter

My wife and I started buying class passes in 2014 and would attend classes sporadically. Eventually I cancelled my traditional gym membership in search of a more structured fitness regimen and joined Dfly with no regrets. We would go to beginner yoga classes offered through our gym which provided some insight into the fundamentals of the practice, enough to make a class at a yoga studio more approachable for me as a novice.

I find yoga to be an excellent physical workout that can be easily dialed up or down based on my energy level, over time I came to better appreciate the mental clarity that this practice can provide through controlled breathing both during class and throughout the day.

Physically I’ve lost weight, lowered blood pressure, increased strength and flexibility, improved balance and muscle endurance. Mentally I have found that my stress level is more manageable, partly through the creation of a routine that allows time for a mental reset each morning at class.

When I get home from work, I want time with my wife and (almost) two year old daughter before her bedtime so for me, early morning classes are ideal. I make it to my mat Monday through Saturday for 5:30am Flow classes in Middleton and Fitchburg.

I am always impressed with the staff at Dfly and appreciative of the positivity they share with everyone that comes through the door and rolls out their mat, it’s inspiring.

Instructor Suki Warda: “Brendan is such a stable and strong force in the 5:30am practice. How he practices on his mat exhibits amazing strength, flexibility & lightness. It also reflects his kind and caring leadership qualities off the mat as well! Congratulations Brendan!! It’s a sincere honor to guide you!”
