My Teaching Style
I strive to guide each student to a place of heightened self-awareness to create an equanimous state of mind. I love working with beginners, and strive to bring together people from all walks of life through yoga. I also love to work cue around more advanced asana in my core flow classes. I build a unique playlist for each class and allow the music to guide the movement I cue. I am passionate about creating inclusive movement spaces for all abilities, body types, ethnicities, ages, genders, and self-expressions.
I stumbled into yoga in high school after finishing my competitive gymnastics career, instantly falling in love with its emphasis on restorative movement. Since, I have consistently practiced Vinyasa, Bikram, Hot, Yin, and Hatha, before deciding to deepen my knowledge through a teacher training at Stone Wave Yoga in the Hudson Valley in 2020. I have been teaching regularly ever since. I firmly believe in the yogic principle (Niyama) of Svadhyaya, or self-study, and feel deep respect for the opportunity to share a practice that originated as a Hindu school of thought in India over 5,000 years ago. Other passions/work of mine include: Special Education, running, hiking, and biking.
Lotus - Any variation of this is humbling to experience in myself or my students, and the feeling of compression experienced is unlike any other asana.
“Identity would seem to be the garment with which one covers the nakedness of the self: in which case, it is best that the garment be loose, a little like the robes of the desert, through which one’s nakedness can always be felt, and, sometimes, discerned. This trust in ones nakedness is all that gives one the power to change one’s robes.”
