CYT 200

My Teaching Style

I like to remind newer students that if you can sit comfortably, you can practice yoga since “asana” technically means comfortable seat. I strive to create an inclusive class that challenges students, wherever they are, and incorporates elements of emotion acceptance into a power vinyasa flow.

I first discovered yoga as an injured runner (and former dancer) when I was 16. It took me a few years of self-practice to eventually build up the courage to try a studio. I quickly fell in love with hot flow yoga and knew I wanted to become a teacher.

I completed my CYT with Tribe Yoga (Ashtanga/Vinyasa style) in Thailand in March 2016. I taught a variety of classes at several Core Power Yoga locations in Boston for the next few years and also worked in leadership roles in the studios. I also designed and led a practicum as part of my senior thesis that incorporated elements of an evidence-based treatment for emotional disorders into a physical yoga practice as an opportunity to enhance the effects of adaptive emotion regulation.

When I moved to Madison, I fell in love with Dragonfly and am so excited to join the amazing teacher team.

Favorite Pose

Half Pigeon. I seem to hold 95% of my stress in my hips and half pigeon is a great barometer for my current stress levels and serves as a moment to force me to hone in on my breath.

Favorite Quote

Why I Love Dragonfly

The immediate sense of community I felt upon first walking into Dfly in 2017 as a new grad living in a brand new city. I’ve always felt warm and welcome here!

Little Known Fact About Me

I’ve played the violin since I was 5. You can find me playing around Madison in the Edgewood Chamber Orchestra!
