200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training
My Teaching Style
My class invites clients to move with breath, build strength by holding in poses, and find ease in silence. My hope is to hold space for clients to ground themselves in their practice by guiding class with energy and encouragement. I enjoy teaching clients who approach their practice with a beginner’s mind and do not come to the mat with the answers, rather they seek connection to their body, and stillness and space to ponder more questions.
Experience
I began an at-home yoga practice when I was a Peace Corps Volunteer in China in 2006. Over the years, I’ve practiced a variety of forms of yoga from in-studio hot yoga to slow flow/gentle to an at-home practice, and always love finding community around my yoga practice. I love hot yoga – the traditional 26-pose sequence as well as vinyasa flow in a heated room – and even once did a challenge of 90 classes in 90 days.
Favorite Pose
Half-moon – I love the grounded feeling from my standing foot/leg, as well as the expansive opening through the hips, chest and arms in half-moon. My favorite part is when I forget I’m standing and I feel like I’m floating (for just a moment).
Favorite Quote
"No problem can be solved from the same consciousness that created it."
– Albert Einstein
Why I Love Dragonfly
I have practiced at a lot of studios, and Dragonfly is by-far one of the most inviting studios, and offers an amazing variety of classes, there is always something available for whatever mood I’m in.
Little Known Fact About Me
I’m a grandma (of 2 little ones)! I have the great honor of being a grandma without having been a mom, so it’s ‘non-traditional’ but I wouldn’t want it any other way.
