Sun Prairie Yogi of the Month: Laura Edge

I had abandoned a regular vinyasa yoga practice about ten years prior to becoming a member at Dragonfly but always missed having yoga in my fitness routine. It was due mostly to not having a convenient place to practice that offered classes when my schedule allowed. I had never tried hot yoga before Dragonfly. I was curious and honestly a little nervous (I’m a sweater!) but after my first visit I instantly understood the hype. Now I find it challenging to work out or practice yoga without the heat!!

I absolutely love the variety and large schedule of classes that Dragonfly offers. There is something for everyone. The instructors are fabulous and the community is what keeps me coming back. It is a safe and supportive environment to take care of yourself: mind, body and spirit. It’s truly my home away from home.

Middleton Yogi of the Month: Rebecca Schulenburg

Before I started at Dragonfly, I was out of town visiting a friend who had recently gotten into hot yoga. Although I was a bit skeptical, as I tend to enjoy cardio exercise, I agreed to go to one of her classes with her. I was amazed that I loved every minute of the class, and I couldn’t believe how great I felt after it was done. I knew then that I wanted to join a hot yoga studio once I got home. After debating a few months on where to go or if I should sign up, I finally decided to try out Dragonfly. Some may think I’m crazy, but the first class I signed up for was Power Up. I knew I would enjoy hot yoga, so I wanted to use the first class pass to try something different. From the moment the class started, I knew I was hooked. I signed up for the intro month that night, and I have loved every minute since. When it comes to exercise, I have always been more of a cardio junkie. Running has always been something that I have enjoyed, and in college Zumba was my cardio/exercise outlet. Because of my love for cardio, yoga was never something that I had considered trying until my friend had me go to a class with her.

Fitchburg Yogi of the Month: Holly Gill

After a cross-country move and with the start of a new job on the horizon, I decided to sign up for the monthly intro offer in an attempt to grow roots in a new city. I joined as many classes as possible during my first month in Madison. A habit was born. I immediately signed up for a membership at the end of my intro month and haven’t looked back.

Before Dragonfly, I dabbled in yoga classes at various rock climbing gyms and hopped into a handful of classes with friends throughout the years. The focus on core work and flexibility were an incredible complement to climbing, but it wasn’t until Dfly that I developed a more consistent yoga practice. I hadn’t worked up the courage to try a BarreAmped class before Dfly (admittedly, I was utterly intimidated by what I had heard); I’m glad I finally gave it a try! BarreAmped classes may kick my butt (in the best of ways) every time, but are anything but scary.

Downtown Yogi of the Month: Shtiliana (Ana) Careaga

How did you get started at Dfly?
One day I saw one of my co-workers coming back in the office with a yoga mat and we started talking. I was interested and she took me to the studio in Downtown. I loved it.

What is/was your yoga experience before Dfly?
No experience.

What do you enjoy most from attending Dfly classes?
The most enjoyable thing to me is the yoga class, the challenge we face as a group, the feel of support, the lack of being judged, and the peaceful environment.
