Sun Prairie Yogi of the Month: Shannon Hellenbrand

I dropped in on a few Dragonfly classes in Middleton over the past few years, and I loved it, but I couldn’t commit the extra drive time to get to the west side. In February, not long after the Sun Prairie studio opened up, I did a trial month. I have been a loyal member since. Before this, I was interested in hot yoga but slightly intimidated, as I believed you had to be extremely flexible to do well. I quickly realized at Dfly, that is not the case (you won’t be catching me doing the splits anytime soon, but my flexibility has improved!). I also realized, no one is competing with you but yourself. The environment at Dfly in Sun Prairie is extremely welcoming and comfortable, no matter your fitness level. The heat is detoxifying, and the staff is inspiring.

Middleton Yogi of the Month: Renee Shanesy

I was looking for a change from my current workout routine, as I feel it is important I enjoy fitness and continue to be challenged. A friend said I would love the BarreAmped classes so that was my first taste of Dfly. From there I became immersed in yoga, all types of BarreAmped, as well as my current obsessions, Power Up and Yoga Up.

Dfly has taken me to the next level and taught me that perfection is not reality, but progress and listening to your body is. For years working out was a means to an end but now it’s an enjoyable part of my lifestyle.

Fitchburg Yogi of the Month: Heather Pearson

I have been practicing yoga with Dragonfly since 2012. Running has always been my own personal source of therapy and outlet for me, but when I suffered a foot injury earlier in the year, I needed an alternate fitness option. I had little experience with yoga, but I heard a radio ad for a new hot yoga studio in Fitchburg, and decided to give it a try — for both my physical and emotional well-being. I wasn’t sure what to expect from my first class, but I am so glad I went!

Downtown Yogi of the Month: Anne Aiello

I was first introduced to Dragonfly with the encouragement of a good friend. Our first class was with Autumn. I had very little prior yoga experience, but that didn’t matter. She welcomed me with patience, acceptance, and hands on adjustments. I learned that yoga practice isn’t about the end result; it’s about the journey and that kept me coming back. I told myself that I’m not going to give up because of excuses – “I’m too tired”- “I don’t feel like it” – “Not today.” So I just didn’t give up.
