Fitchburg Yogi of the Month: Roxane Dachman

I truly appreciate how the Dragonfly instructors remind us that yoga is in the experience of the pose, not the image of the pose. Yoga exists inside us and it's not about outwardly perfecting the poses. The instructors support the idea that yoga is a generated experience produced by the co- existence between the body and breath, its life force.

My experience of life is much calmer when I am practicing yoga. I can take what I experience in yoga out into my life and I can release stress and tension while in a yoga class. For me, yoga is an energetic filter that I use to detox and recharge during class.

I try to get to class 5 times per week, which seems to be the best balance to maintain my charge and focus. My favorite classes are Fire, Flow and Fly Barre.

At one point, I had to walk away from yoga for about 4 years. The quiet was too much to tolerate. I am so glad to be able to enjoy yoga again. Dragonfly really supports my practice perfectly.

“I remember the first time Roxane came through our doors. She took Fusion 75, one of our more challenging classes as her first class. I wasn't sure if we'd see her again after such a hard workout, but she ended up coming 19 more times during her introductory period, and then became a member! I'm really impressed with how Roxane commutes from Dodgeville for Dragonfly. It's a testament to her yoga practice and to Dragonfly.”

“It is truly an honor to have Roxane in class! She has dedicated herself to the practice and has embraced so much of what it means to be a Dragonfly. Whether it is shaking in Fly Barre, to the glorious heat of Fusion/Fire or the creative expression in Flow, Roxane is always present with a radiating smile that always makes my day! Thank you Roxane for being you!”
